Abstract
In this challenge, students will record their voices and apply effects to change and disguise it. Students will learn the basics of the mathematics concerning sound.

This activity should be developed in groups of 3 learners. Teachers should help maintain the motivation of the learners particularly when they are struggling with the Audacity tool.
Learning Outcomes
Skills and Competences
The learners can develop the following skills and competences:
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Leadership
- Communication and presentation skills
- Designing a solution to a complex problem by breaking it into small, manageable problems
- Apply the engineering design process to solve problems
- Management of time and resources
- Digital literacy
- Use of audio software
Knowledge
The following knowledge can be gathered by the learners:
- Basic principles of sound physics
- Basic principles of digital sound
- Digital sound editing
Other Instructions
- Using Audacity record the voice of one of the elements of the group. Use the phrase selected previously. Look at the audio file produced, zoom in until you see the individual samples. Save that audio using an identifiable name (but not the name of the student).
- Repeat for each element of the group.
- Using the first audio file, change the pitch (only the tone) and listen to the result. Try several values for the tone. In the end, undo everything and go back to the original audio.
- Now, change the tempo (increase/decrease) and listen to the result. In the end, undo everything and go back to the original file.
- Now, change the speed (increase/decrease) and listen to the result. In the end, undo everything and go back to the original file.
- Select the set of effects that you will apply to the first voice, do it and save the result.
- Repeat for the other voices (use the same effects)
