Abstract
In this challenge, students are required to build a 3D artistic piece using spaghetti, tape and cord. The sculpture should have moving parts that are activated by using air blowers. Students should combine an artistic conceptual approach with the engineering design process to design and build the sculpture and particularly the moving parts and how they fit the static frame. Learners will be aware of the artistic creation process and the engineering design process.
This activity should be developed in groups of 3 or 4 learners. Teachers should help maintain the motivation of the learners particularly when they are struggling with creating the artistic concept.

Learning Outcomes
Skills and Competences
The learners can develop the following skills and competences:
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Leadership
- Communication and presentation skills
- Apply the engineering design process
- Management of time and resources
Knowledge
The following knowledge can be gathered by the learners:
- Basic principles of physics (compression, bending, load-bearing, tension)
- Basic principles of motion
- Basic principles of artistic design and creation
Other Instructions
Collect the materials assigned to you.
- Understand the construction process. Feel the bending, tension and compression that can be applied to a spaghetti or to a taped group of spaghettis. See how you can connect it to other spaghetti in different angles.
- Build the static frame.
- Build the moving parts
- 4. Connect everything
