This activity can be developed individually by learners or as a pair activity (2 learners) that shall be focused on the positive use of LEDs, a battery and handicraft.
A blinking spider
Learning Outcomes
The learners will learn how to use different materials to make a blinking spider.
Skills and competences
The learners can develop following skills and competences:
- Handicraft
- Problem solving
- Teamwork
- Motivation
- Do-it-yourself (DIY)
- Process management
- Analysation
- Creativity
- Initiative
- Planning and organising
Knowledge
The following knowledge can be gathered by the learners:
- How to be creative
- How to work with hands
- How to understand simple electronics
Other Instructions
- Stretch out both pen springs.
- Using electrical tape, attach both pen springs to the positive side of the battery.
- Twist the negative legs of the LEDs together.
- Using electrical tape, attach the twisted legs to the negative side of the battery.
- Using the needle-nose pliers, bend small loops onto the ends of the positive legs on the LEDs, so that the pen springs feed through the loops.
- Bending the legs too much can break them off!
- Test if the LEDs light up when the pen springs touch the positive legs of the LEDs.
- You can add a piece of tape onto the ends of the springs so that they are more likely to move with to wind and movement.
