Abstract

This activity should serve as an inspiration for the opportunity to grow food, to use scales to calculate the plan and possibly 3D computer plan.

At the same time, learners will be able to develop basic skills such as simple calculations, association of concepts, green and ecological skills.

The activity is best developed individually by learners and adapted to the needs and possibilities of the individuals. The learners can be inspired to get together with other interested parties to rent a piece of land, to use their own land or at the education center. The vegetable garden can be drawn in a 3D program – it is available on the internet with different languages or drawn by hand depending on what the teacher wants to achieve. They will also learn the benefits of growing your own because as you decide how you want to treat the soil and what substances you add to the vegetables including how to save money.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn how to make a drawing either on paper or on a computer using scales and also calculate how many square meters are needed for self-sufficiency in certain vegetables. The students also get the opportunity to reflect on the soil that provides us with food.

  • Determine computer or by hand
  • Imagine your own vegetable garden
  • Plan the size of the plot
  • Choose the vegetables
  • Explain how you calculated
  • Design it
  • Show it for the group
  • Explain your design
  • Determine of self- sufficiency
  • Motivate it for the group

Other Instructions

If you use the computer follow the instructions from the teacher. If you choose to draw choose a scale. Ex. 10 cm = 1 meter Make a plan
